New essay on "Brief Encounter" for Perisphere

I wrote about David Lean's beautiful 1945 drama Brief Encounter, and in particular its famous use of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto no. 2 in C minor, for Perisphere, the Trylon Cinema's blog. It will be screening in a double feature with Lean's Blithe Spirit (which I also love) July 19-21.

Brief Encounter: Music as Memory – Perisphere

Be sure to keep an eye on the Trylon calendar, their programming is outstanding, I try to go there at least once a week.
